About

I’ve always been fascinated by everything finance

Over the years, that curiosity led me through an MBA, a career in banking, management consulting, and now financial services in the UAE. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to work on everything from corporate banking and digital transformation to payments, open banking, private markets, and digital assets.

When I moved to the UAE, I found myself surrounded by some incredibly talented people—bankers, product specialists, lawyers, technologists, blockchain experts, and market practitioners. Our conversations would jump effortlessly from tokenisation and custody to smart contracts, settlement, investor protection, and financial regulation.

Despite my background in finance, I often found myself thinking, “I know the basics, but I want to understand how this really works.”

So I started doing what I’ve always enjoyed most: going back to first principles.

I’d spend my evenings reading articles, reports, regulations, and research papers—not just to keep up with the conversations, but to truly understand the systems behind them.

What began as a way to learn soon became something much more rewarding.

I realised that the best way to deepen my own understanding was to explain what I’d learned. Every question I answered led to another question. Every topic opened the door to a larger financial system waiting to be explored.

That’s how Matters of Capital was born.

This isn’t a website that tells you what to invest in or what headlines to follow. It’s a place to understand why financial systems work the way they do, how capital moves through businesses, banks, markets and governments, and what those movements mean for the world around us.

I’m still learning every day, and I don’t pretend to have all the answers. This platform is an invitation to learn together—to question, to explore, and to make sense of the fascinating world of finance, one story at a time.

I’m glad you’re here. Let’s decode it together.
